New Zealand fast bower Shane Bond retired from test cricket on Wednesday, citing physical wear and tear, but said he would continue to play shorter forms of the game.Bond, 34, has been plagued by injuries during a seven-year international career in which he played only 18 tests, finishing with 87 wickets at an average of 22.09.

Pankaj Advani survives a scare in All-India snooker tourney
National champion Pankaj Advani, authoured yet another fairytale fightback as he overcame a 1—4 deficit and won 5—4 against Delhi’s Sandeep Gulati to enter the semi—finals of the Rs.5.2 lakh VIP Matrix All—India snooker tournament here on Wednesday.

Advani, the 24—year old Bangalorean will take on fellow—PSPB player Sourav Kothari, in a repeat of the 2009 National championship final, while J. Varun Kumar of Chennai meets Aditya Mehta of PSPB in the other semi—final scheduled at night.

Schumacher returns to F1 with Mercedes
Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is coming out of retirement to drive for Mercedes in 2010.
The 40-year-old German driver, who retired three years ago, confirmed his comeback on Wednesday.
“Three years of absence gave back all the energy that I’m feeling right now,” Schumacher said in a telephone conference. “I feel ready for some serious stuff.”
“I believe I can be absolutely competetive,” he said.
