Guv has filmy answer to terror

The truth might be stranger than fiction but it seems that one can take a pointer or two from peddlers of fiction to gauge the strangeness of truth.

Or so the AP Governor believes. The Governor, Mr E.S.L. Narasimhan, has suggested that our security agencies talk to film directors for inputs on creative ideas terrorists could use for attacking the country.

Addressing security experts during the inaugural ceremony of the two-day “Pan India Security Summit” held at the GMR International airport on Monday, Mr Narasimhan said: “For many here, it might sound silly. But you should actually consider the idea of talking to film directors about possible ideas of attacks and terror plans. They keep ideating to make such movies and portray how terrorists destroy establishments. We can ask them about bizarre ideas terrorists could come up with for attacks and thereby widen our perspective on security threats.”

The former director of SPG, Mr M.R. Reddy, while reacting to the Governor’s idea, said, “There is nothing wrong with the Governor’s suggestion. It is just an idea.”

Another retired IPS officer said on condition of anonymity, “It is impractical and takes away the seriousness from such an important issue.”
