The Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, will launch his bus tour, demanding that the Centre and state governments expedite the multi-utility Indira Sagar (Polavaram) project at Antarvedi village in East Godavari on May 5; and will continue his tour in several districts until its culmination at a public meeting at Polavaram village in West Godavari on May 19.
Mr Chiranjeevi will arrive at Rajahmundry on May 5 and visit Antarvedi village to offer prayers at the local temple. He is scheduled to kick off the bus tour at about 3.00 pm in the village on the same day.
The PR chief will meet party leaders, supporters and farmers during the day and will take part in a bus yatra from 3.00 pm onwards until night every day.
The Praja Rajyam district president, Mr Jyothula Nehru, told newsmen here on Monday that their party chief was also planning to visit Delhi to bring pressure upon the Centre on the project issue. A meeting is being planned at Bhadrachalam to get feedback from people from project affected villages. The PR chief will visit East Godavari for five days in two phases and visit other districts to mobilise support from the general public on the project.
According to the schedule of the PR chief’s bus tour, he will start from Antarvedi on May 5 and cover villages like Kesavadasupalem, Chinthalamori, Kesanapalli, Gudavalli, Coonavaram, Thadipaka and others. He will arrive at Kakinada by night. On May 6, he will visit Velangi, Karapa, Sarpavaram, Timmapuram, Chitrada, Pitapuram and reach Annavaram by night. On May 7, the PR leader will start his tour from A.V. Nagaram and cover Perumallapuram, Tondangi, Hamsavaram and reach Payakaraopeta by night. He will visit Visakhapatnam district on May 8 and 9 and again return to Kotanandur in East Godavari on May 10 and visit Routhalapudi, Sankhavaram, Prathipadu and arrive at Samalkota by night.
On May 11, he will start his tour at Vetlapalem, Anaparthy, Dwarapudi, Kadiam, Vemagiri, Dowles-waram and reach Rajahmundry by night. On May 12, he will reach Kovvur in West Godavari to visit several villages in the district.

Rosaiah to distribute 6,815 acres to poor
The Chief Minister, K. Rosaiah, will launch the fifth phase of land distribution in the district during his first visit to Nellore after becoming CM on April 15.
Arrangements are on to distribute 6,815 acres to 5,539 beneficiaries in 31 mandals of the district.
The minister for municipal administration and urban development, Mr Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, disclosed this during a review meeting here on Tuesday.
According to the minister, Mr Rosaiah will give away the title deeds to beneficiaries of eight model villages identified in eight Assembly segments except Nellore town and rural. The lands earmarked for distribution will be developed at an estimate cost of Rs 12.29 crore.
Authorities have been asked to give priority to landless SC, ST and disabled persons.
Referring to 47,125 acres allotted to 37,031 beneficiaries during the last four pha-ses of land distribution, he said 15,000 acres were yet to be developed at an expenditure Rs 46 crore to bring them under cultivation net.
Expressing concern over large number of complaints over the distribution in the previous phases, he directed the officials to address all the grievances before the CM’s visit.
He stressed the need to ensure seven hours power supply and mitigate the drinking water problems to prevent migrations.
The Nellore MP, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, has advised the agriculture wing officials to make sure that ensuing farmers motivation camps (Rythu Chaitanya Yatras) benefit the section.
He said that the Union government is prepared to extend crop loans to the extent of Rs 3.75 lakh crore at 5 per cent interest rate to the farmers this year.
The Nellore rural legislator, Mr Anam Vivekananda Reddy, has asked the authorities to include Nellore rural mandal under fifth phase of land distribution.
The collector, Mr K. Ramgopal, the Udayagiri legislator, Mr Mekapati Chandra-sekhar Reddy, the Nellore Mayor, Mr N. Bhanusree, the additional JC, Seetharamaiah, SP, Mr E. Damodar and the DRO, Mr Jayaramaiah, were also present.

ISRO set to launch GSLV-D3
ISRO is preparing to launch a geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV-D3), powered for the first time by a home-made cryogenic engine, from Sriharikota spaceport this month, its chief K Radhakrishnan said on Friday.
“Preparations are going on. The final reviews are also taking place. It could be any day from April 15 (at around 16.30 hours), which is the first available opportunity”, he told PTI.
GSLV-D3 would carry on board GSAT-4 experimental satellite in which ISRO is also testing some new things.
He said the indigenous development of complex cryogenic rocket technology after years of effort is a reply to technology denial regimes and termed the endeavour “marvellous“.
“Significance in terms of (cryogenic) technology development has been a marvellous thing”, he said.
“In 1992, we wanted to get this technology from Russia, and the Americans put a sanction on Russia not to transfer this technology and India took a bold decision to develop it. So, we have done it”, he said.
“This is a flight-testing of that (indigenous cryogenic) stage,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
Indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage (CUS) being used for the first time in GSLV-D3 is fully qualified having undergone the full flight duration test of 800 seconds successfully. The indigenous CUS would be used in place of Russian cryogenic stage employed so far in GSLV.
“The development of cryogenic engines involves mastering several complex disciplines such as materials technology, operating rotary pumps and turbines that run at 42,000 rpm at cryogenic temperatures. The development of cryogenic technology in the country has given the coveted status of total self-reliance in launch vehicle technology”, he said.
ISRO conducted previous GSLV flights with the help of readymade cryogenic engines procured from Russia earlier.
“GSAT-4 is the only payload (to be carried by GSLV-D3). But GSAT-4 contains several payloads. We are getting into Ka-band transponder system there, and we are also having a small payload for the satellite navigation for augmenting the GPS system that is GAGAN (GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation),” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
ISRO is also trying electric propulsion system for the first time. “Instead of using liquid fuel for station-keeping, here you are using electric propulsions”, he said, noting the move would enable the agency to extend the life of satellites by a couple of years.

BJP to launch nation-wide agitation against price rise: Sushma
BJP would launch a nation-wide agitation from February 1 to protest against rise in prices of essential commodities, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said here on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here, she attributed “wrong” policies of the UPA government as reason for the sky-rocketing prices of essential items.
Terming the recent comment of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar that he cannot predict when the prices of sugar would come down as “irresponsible”, the senior BJP leader alleged that it was only due to the wrong policies of the UPA government that has now resulted in spiralling prices of food items.
She wanted to know what measures Union Government had taken to check the price rise.
Even pulses and sugar which are mostly used by common people have become dearer and the Centre has totally “failed” to control the price rise, the former Union minister said.
Stating that the party would raise the issue in the Parliament, she said “the party would play its role effectively as the people have given us responsibility to keep a watch on the actions of the government... where as the UPA got the mandate to rule the nation.”
The party would definitely raise the price rise issue inside and outside the Parliament, she said adding “We would hold nation-wide agitations for a fortnight from February 1, to protest the Centre’s failure to check price rise”.
