The Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, will launch his bus tour, demanding that the Centre and state governments expedite the multi-utility Indira Sagar (Polavaram) project at Antarvedi village in East Godavari on May 5; and will continue his tour in several districts until its culmination at a public meeting at Polavaram village in West Godavari on May 19.
Mr Chiranjeevi will arrive at Rajahmundry on May 5 and visit Antarvedi village to offer prayers at the local temple. He is scheduled to kick off the bus tour at about 3.00 pm in the village on the same day.
The PR chief will meet party leaders, supporters and farmers during the day and will take part in a bus yatra from 3.00 pm onwards until night every day.
The Praja Rajyam district president, Mr Jyothula Nehru, told newsmen here on Monday that their party chief was also planning to visit Delhi to bring pressure upon the Centre on the project issue. A meeting is being planned at Bhadrachalam to get feedback from people from project affected villages. The PR chief will visit East Godavari for five days in two phases and visit other districts to mobilise support from the general public on the project.
According to the schedule of the PR chief’s bus tour, he will start from Antarvedi on May 5 and cover villages like Kesavadasupalem, Chinthalamori, Kesanapalli, Gudavalli, Coonavaram, Thadipaka and others. He will arrive at Kakinada by night. On May 6, he will visit Velangi, Karapa, Sarpavaram, Timmapuram, Chitrada, Pitapuram and reach Annavaram by night. On May 7, the PR leader will start his tour from A.V. Nagaram and cover Perumallapuram, Tondangi, Hamsavaram and reach Payakaraopeta by night. He will visit Visakhapatnam district on May 8 and 9 and again return to Kotanandur in East Godavari on May 10 and visit Routhalapudi, Sankhavaram, Prathipadu and arrive at Samalkota by night.
On May 11, he will start his tour at Vetlapalem, Anaparthy, Dwarapudi, Kadiam, Vemagiri, Dowles-waram and reach Rajahmundry by night. On May 12, he will reach Kovvur in West Godavari to visit several villages in the district.
