Insolvency case against Maytas closed after deal

Justice G.V. Seethapathy of the AP High Court on Tuesday closed a windup petition filed against Maytas Infra Ltd after Maytas agreed to repay $57,200 to NSE Global Specialist Engineering Services Pvt Ltd.

The NSE Global filed the petition against the Maytas Infra after it defaulted in the repayment of $70,493.

The petitioner sought a direction to declare the Maytas as commercially insolvent.

The court admitted the petition and issued notice to the Maytas. Meanwhile, Maytas had a reached an agreement with the petitioner and agreed to pay the amount in full and final settlement against the claim of the petitioner.

HC allows SHRC appointment

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru and Justice Vilas V. Afzulpurkar of the AP High Court on Tuesday stayed the operation of a stay granted by a single judge on all further proceedings in the appointment of Mr K. Peda Peri Reddy as a member of the AP State Human Rights Commission.

This order will enable Mr Reddy to assume the charge as a non-judicial member of the SHRC.

While granting interim order, the CJ said, “After seeing the records pertaining to the appointment, we prima facie view that the appointing authority followed the prescribed procedure.’’

The bench said the appointee had all requisite qualifications for the appointment.

The bench posted further hearing after three weeks along with writ petitions pending before the single judge.
