Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was stranded for over two hours in Coimbatore after his Air India flight arrived late following a flash strike by a section of the employees of the airlines.
Mr. Karunanidhi, who was scheduled to leave for Chennai by 1300 hrs, left Coimbatore at 1505 hrs, airport sources said.
The Chief Minister was there to review developmental works in view of the World Classical Tamil Conference to be held there next month.
A section of Air India employees, including engineers, went on a flash strike to protest delay in payment of salaries and problems relating to the working conditions of cabin crew.
At least 10 flights of Air India were cancelled due to the flash strike.
