Botsa gets praise, brickbats over T

The senior minister, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana’s statement favouring bifurcation of the state has been welcomed by several Telangana leaders including some of his Cabinet colleagues, but has been criticised by leaders from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.
The IT minister, Mr Komatireddy Venkatareddy, the Congress leaders, Mr V. Hanumantha Rao and Dr P. Shanker Rao, the Telangana JAC convenor, Prof. Kodandaram and others have welcomed his statement. They said that leaders and MLAs from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions should accept the facts so that the state could be bifurcated amicably without any agitations and violence.
However Mr Botsa’s remarks angered leaders from non-Telangana regions.
Mr T.G. Venkatesh, the Kurnool Congress MLA and convenor of Rayalaseema Rights Forum, strongly criticised the minister’s statement. “How can he make such a statement without consulting us?” asked Mr Venkatesh.
The Telugu Desam Rajya Sabha member, Dr M.V. Mysoora Reddy, has asked Mr Botsa to resign from the cabinet. Otherwise, the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, should sack him, said the TD leader.
“How can he say that bifurcation alone is the solution, when the Justice Srikrishna panel was asked to ascertain the views of the people,” said Mr Mysoora Reddy.
