Youth free 'kidnapped' student in Krishna district

In a filmy style, an engineering student was today kidnapped by his collegemates on a trivial issue at Tadigadapa town in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.
However, the abductors immediately released the student after travelling some distance in a four-wheeler as they came to know that some regional TV channels started flashing the news that an engineering student K. Ramu was abducted.
Ramu, a third-year engineering student and his two room-mates were thrashed by M. Aditya and seven others last night after a dispute during a get-together of students at a private engineering college in Tadigadapa town, police said.
Fearing that Ramu may complain to college authorities about the incident, Aditya, (a third-year student of another branch) and others, once again went to Ramu's room today and beat him and his friends before forcibly taking away Ramu in a vehicle, a police official said.
When the car was on its way to Vijayawada, Aditya received a call that some TV channels were broadcasting the news report about Ramu's kidnap.
The abductors fearing that police may catch hold of them, let off Ramu, who approached the Penamaluru police and lodged a complaint.
A hunt has been launched to nab Aditya and others, the police official said adding the injured friends of Ramu were admitted to a hosptial. Investigations were on.
