Pushed on to the defensive over the spate of recent incidents, including the gruesome murder of P. Naga Vaishnavi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has indicated that these incidents took place due to “various other factors” and not police failure. He seemed to suggest that all was going well with the police machinery, when he addressed the media after reviewing the law and order situation along with Home Minister P. Sabitha Reddy here on Tuesday.
He said the State slipped into “bad times” since January 23 when 14 out of over 300 persons who consumed illicit liquor, succumbed in East Godavari district. This was followed by two boat tragedies in West Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts.
