At least 12 policemen and three journalists were injured in clashes between cops and students of Osmania University, the centre of Telangana agitation, on Monday.
Agitating students threw stones injuring about 12 cops, a senior police officer said, adding no student was injured. The fresh clash came a day after 22 people, including five mediapersons and 11 cops, were injured on Sunday night when students supporting JAC legislators’ resignation over the terms of reference of Srikrishna committee pelted stones at cops.
Monday’s police attack on journalists came within hours after Andhra Pradesh home minister Sabita Indra Reddy and DGP R R Girish Kumar apologized to the media for attacks on print and electronic media journalists by police on Osmania campus on Sunday.
The cops allegedly attacked mediapersons despite they showing their identity cards and cameras to them.
