The Ibrahimpatnam police on Thursday registered a cheating case against the Praja Rajyam Party president, Mr Chiranjeevi, after a petition was filed in the court alleging that he had fought the Assembly elections under ‘Samajika Telangana’ banner and changed his stand after the separate Telangana agitation.
The petition was filed in the Ibrahimpatnam court by one Cheguma Reddy of Arutla village. The petition stated that Chiranjeevi changed his stand and joined the Samaikhyandhra banner in contradiction to his ‘Samajika Telangana’ agenda, and cheated the people of Telangana.
After the Telangana agitation began a couple of months ago, Chiranjeevi openly sided with the Samaikhyandhra leaders.
The Ibrahimpatnam police registered the case after the directions of the fourth metropolitan magistrate at the Ibrahimpatnam court.
The Ibrahimpatnam sub inspector, Mr Kanakaiah, said, “as per the court directions, we have registered a case against Chiranjeevi under Section 420 of the IPC and are investigating.
