T petition exasperates SC

The Supreme Court on Monday showed skepticism over the various kinds of relief sought on the Telangana issue in petitions being filed on regular intervals.

A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan raised doubts about the kind of relief sought by an advocate, Mr Bondada Purushottam Yadav.

The petitioner sought to restrain the Centre from taking any further action on the pronouncements of the home minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, made on December 9 and 23, 2009 respectively relating to initiation of the process for creation of separate Telangana state.

“How can such a relief be given? It is not possible,” said Justice Balakrishnan.

Mr Yadav alleged that Mr Chidambaram’s pronouncements regarding setting in motion the process for creation of new state, was “responsible for disturbing peace in AP and also for damage to the properties” in subsequent violent agitations.
