The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, said on Wednesday that he was yet to finalise the date for a Cabinet reshuffle.
While talking to mediapersons in his chambers, he also refused to disclose whether he would go for an expansion or a
total revamp.
“I have not finalised anything yet,” he said. “I will think about it after the legislative session concludes.”
When reporters told him that April 4 was an auspicious day for Cabinet expansion, Mr Rosaiah retorted: “What will happen if I do it after that? I will think about it after the legislative session concludes.’’
He also strongly refuted reports that the Planning Commission had suggested scrapping of many welfare schemes of the late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and said categorically that the government was not going to scrap a single scheme.
“The Planning Commission never objects to schemes proposed by state governments since it has no such powers,” he said. “At best it may say that it cannot fund the schemes. It is common knowledge that they make some observations on uneconomical and unviable schemes, but that does not mean those schemes will be scrapped or withdrawn.’’ He said he would see to it that only eligible people benefit from welfare schemes.
