Continuing his theory of creating two Telugu-speaking States, Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister Botcha Satyanarayana said Hyderabad was part and parcel of Telangana.
“Nobody can divide it from Telangana and demand that it be made into a Union Territory,” Mr. Satyanarayana said on Tuesday even as he stood by his campaign in support of division of Andhra Pradesh for all-round development of three regions.
Bouquets and brickbats
Notwithstanding the bouquets received from pro-Telangana protagonists and brickbats from supporters for an integrated State, the Minister insisted that the Srikrishna Committee had given a great opportunity for people of all regions to put forth their cases before it. “This panel will be instrumental in settling the contentious issues of bifurcation. Everyone should come forward and cooperate so that the work is completed at the earliest,” he said in a chat with reporters.
Mr. Satyanarayana maintained that the integrationists had failed to give him any convincing answer on why the State should be united. During his interactions with a cross-section of the society from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, no one could answer his query on inequitable development of regions. “Why should development centre around Hyderabad and its neighbouring areas only?”
The Minister took a dig at the TDP leaders, P. Ashok Gajapati Raju and K.Yerran Naidu. He wondered why the two leaders had taken a complete ‘U’ turn after daring the State government to introduce a resolution in the Assembly supporting Telangana.
