A 13-year-old girl, who was reportedly working as a domestic help in the house of a doctor couple, was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside their car at their house in Karkhana on Wednesday.
Dr Prabahakar Reddy runs a clinic at Rein Bazaar, Hyderabad, and his wife, Dr Shobha Reddy, works at Healing Touch Hospital in Secunderabad.
The victim was identified as Laxmi, a native of Nizamabad district. She had migrated to the city with her parents and had been residing at Vahininagar in Karkhana.
Parents of the girl alleged that the doctors made their child do sit-ups as she did not mix flour properly.
Dr Prabhakar Reddy said he and his wife went to his clinic at 10 am and returned home at 2 pm and found the girl missing. Along with her uncle, he searched the house and found her in the rear seat of the car parked on in their building.
The DCP (north zone), Mr Muralikrishna, said the parents had alleged that the doctors had driven their daughter to suicide through harassment. “We have booked a case under 306 IPC,” he said.
Police said no injuries were found on the girl’s body. “We can’t jump to conclusions,” said the DCP. “The cause of death can be known only after post-mortem on Thursday.”
