According to villagers at Varadaiahpalem, at around 8 am, a group of 20 persons entered Golden City gate-II, resorted to vandalism and attacked the inmates, who were identified as Satish, Chandrasekhar and Suresh.
When about 100 dasas mustered courage and tried to retaliate, the attackers fled the scene.
After one hour, about 50 residents of nearby Thonduru village squatted before the ashram gate and raised slogans against Kalki Bhagwan.
They asked the district collector, Mr V. Seshadri, to intervene and arrest the ‘fake Bhagwan’.
They alleged that in the name of Bhakti and Mukti, the ashram was operating drug and sex rackets.
The agitators tried to barge into the ashram, but were prevented by police forces from Varadaiahpalem and Satyavedu stations.
Ashram spokesman Mr Lokesh Dasa, speaking to reporters, alleged that Mr Ravi Sannareddy, chairman of the Sri City SEZ and DTZ in the Satyavedu-Varadaiahpalem-Tada zone was behind the attack on the ashram.
He contended that recently, a devotee of the Bhagwan had approached the AP High Court against environmental pollution due to industrial activities in Sri City. “They want to take revenge against us, and so attacked us. They are also responsible for scurrilous reports in the print and electronic media against the ashram.’
Meanwhile, the Sri City management denied the allegations of the ashram.
“As the drug and sex scandals of the Bhagwan were exposed, he is trying to divert public and media attention. To hoodwink his devotees, he is mudslinging at Sri City, which is against vandalism.”
