Day curfew lifted in old city, Raju held

The city police has further relaxed curfew in the 25 police station limits in old city following improvement in the law and order situation. There will be only night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.

Curfew will be relaxed on Saturday from 5 am to 10 pm. If the situation improves further, night curfew would also be lifted, according to police sources.

Meanwhile, the TD corporator from Mangalhat, Mr T. Raju Singh, who allegedly incited communal violence in the old city on March 27, was picked up by the Market police moments after he came out of the Task Force office in Secunderabad on Friday.

According to sources, Mr Singh had gone to the Task Force office to surrender himself. However, police there had first asked him to surrender to the Shahinayathgunj police.

“We took the GHMC corporator Raju Singh into custody,” said the additional commissioner of police, Crimes, Mr K. Narashima Reddy.
