Desam criticises AP indifference

The Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, criticised the government for its failure to come to the rescue of farmers hit by unseasonal rains and hailstorm.

Mr Naidu, who met party leaders from Ranga Reddy, Kurnool, Anantapur, Mahbubnagar and Krishna districts, said it was unfortunate that even ministers did not call on the victims of hailstorm. “The indifference of the Central and state governments has affected the agriculture sector hard in the state. Farmers have been facing a series of natural calamities, but the government did not come to their rescue,” he alleged.

The TD also took exception to comments made against the party leader by the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The former minister, Mr T. Srinivas Yadav, hit back at the TRS chief for calling Mr Naidu a sikhandi (eunuch). “KCR’s family is sikhandi. What is the TRS chief’s contribution to Telangana? If he is so committed to the region he should field the kin of those dead in the Telangana agitation,” Mr Yadav said.
