Bebo to play Smita Patil

There were reports that maverick director Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film, starring Kareena Kapoor was based on the life of Hollywood celebrity Marilyn Monroe. However, a source close to Madhur recently revealed that the late actress Smita Patil was the source of inspiration for the director.

“Madhur has always admired her body of work and always wanted to make a film on her life — a biopic of sorts. Interestingly, Madhur had uploaded one of Smita’s pictures on his Facebook account. He has even asked her husband, Raj Babbar for permission, who instantly agreed to Madhur’s request,” said our source.

When contacted, Madhur laughed off these reports as mere rumours. “What is this? Sometimes people say I’m making a film based on Marilyn Monroe’s life and now they say it’s inspired by Smita Patil. There’s no truth to this. Wait and watch for more,” he said.
