IIM-A to establish city unit

IIM-Ahmedabad, one of the leading B-schools of the country, has decided to set up a full-fledged campus in city. The decision was taken after the institute’s strategic committee gave its approval during its meeting held on June 24.

It was former chief minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who had invited the IIMA to the city and had also offered 150 acres of land and Rs 100 crore interest-free loan to the institute.

After Mr K. Rosaiah took over, he too wrote to Dr Vijaypat Singhania, chairman, Board of Governors, and reiterated the government’s support for setting up a “seamless campus”. He said that the campus would give a decisive advantage to management students who would get exposure to new sectors as the city hosts the vibrant IT hub, the Biotech Valley and the pharma industry. Sources said that institute authorities have told the state officials about the decision.
