City candidates hit as BSNL shifts exam venue

Candidates from the state who applied for BSNL’s junior accounts officers (JAO) recruitment exam are in trouble due to sudden shifting of exam centres from Hyderabad just a week before the exam.

BSNL has shifted the exam centres from Hyderabad to Chennai, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar. The exam is scheduled to be held on March 14 across the country. BSNL had identified only one city in each state to conduct the exam.

With Hyderabad the only centre in the state, candidates opted for this centre.

However, they were shocked to get hall tickets allotting them centres in other states.

BSNL officials said the centres were shifted as a precautionary measure.

“It is a national-level common exam to be conducted in all the states on one day. If there is any disruption at any centre, the entire exam process will be affected,” the official said. He added that there were also apprehensions due to frequent bandh calls in the last three months in the state.
