A 45-year-old government teacher was found murdered at her residence in Chandanagar here on Sunday.
The victim, N. Vasantha, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Chandanagar and a teacher at the Government Girls High School in Medak district, was found lying in a pool of blood by her husband, Mr N. Satyanarayana, 62, a retired BHEL employee. The body had stab injuries in the chest, jaws and throat.
The Chandanagar police said the incident may have happened between 11 am and 11.15 am on Sunday.
Mr Satyanarayana said his wife was in the kitchen cooking and he was performing puja. Sleuths say the murderers might have entered the house and attacked her after bolting the puja room’s door from outside. They say since Vasantha was slim, the assailants might have easily overpowered her, covered her mouth and stabbed her to death.
Mr Satyanarayana says he stopped the puja when the cable operator came to collect money. He found the door locked from outside when he tried to get out. He thought Vasantha might have locked it to keep the smoke from the kitchen entering the puja room. However, he grew suspicious when his wife did not respond to his calls. He called in the cable operator, got the door opened and rushed into the kitchen where he found her body.
He called the police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
Vasantha is Mr Satyanarayana’s second wife who he married 17 years ago. His first wife, with whom he had three sons, passed away 25 years ago.
Two of his sons, staying in Secunderabad, are working in private industries. The third one is staying at Chandanagar.
The police suspect Mr Satyanarayana’s sons in the murder.
They have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC (murder case) and are investigating.
