Rosaiah quells dissidence

Eight state ministers, most of them belonging to the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy camp, met the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, on Friday and assured him that they were not conspiring against him.
They had become nervous after Mr Rosaiah said on Thursday that he was aware that people were holding dinner meetings and hatching conspiracies to unseat him.
The ministers — Ms Shilpa Mohan Reddy, Mr P. Ramachandra Reddy, Mr Balineni Srinivasulu Reddy, Mr Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, Mr K. Parthasaradhy, Mr Pitani Satyanarayana, Mr P. Balaraju and R. Venkata Reddy — rushed to the CM’s residence on Friday’s morning and swore unstinted loyalty towards him.
It is said the ministers hurriedly met Mr Rosaiah since they are also wary of being dropped in the next reshuffle.
For the last few days ministers and MLAs have been holding dinner meetings to discuss many things including the Hyderabad free-zone resolution and Mr Jagan’s proposed trip to West Godavari, Khammam and Warangal districts from April 2.
When the Chief Minister met ministers and MLAs in his chamber on Thursday to assure them that the resolution would not affect interests of any region, he also mentioned the dinner meetings to “destabilise” him.
“We were worried about the resolution but at no stage did we hatch any conspiracy against you; we are loyal to you and the high command,” the ministers reportedly told Mr Rosaiah.
On his part, Mr Rosaiah cautioned them that such meetings would send a wrong signal to the party cadres and told the ministers that the high command knew of such gatherings.
In the afternoon, four ministers, Mr Gade Venkata Reddy, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy and Mr Vatti Vasanth Kumar, addressed a conference and said they were in favour of the resolution.
