Eight naxals including three women were killed in an encounter at Saloboni village in West Bengal’s Midnapore district.
The dead bodies of the naxals have been recovered.
A joint team of CRPF, the special anti-naxal force (SAF) and state police acting on a specific intelligence input which went into the encounter last night also recovered one AK-47, a SLR, one pistol and five single barrel guns, a senior CRPF official said.
“Dead bodies of the eight naxals alongwith three women have been recovered and the encounter may prolong”, the officer added.
The encounter happened in Dhuli forest area under the Saloboni police station of the district.
Some explosives have also been recovered.
The additional reinforcements from the state police and CRPF have been asked for, the officer said.
