Countering Left-wing extremism remains high on the agenda of the UPA-II government with the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, outlining the Centre’s anti-Naxal policy on Tuesday.
Releasing a report prepared by the UPA-II government on the completion of one year, the Prime Minister said his government has adopted an integrated approach in dealing with Left-wing extremism in the area of “security, development and public perception”. He said the Centre will pursue a policy that genuinely addresses developmental concerns while enforcing the writ of the state. “We will fight against the scourge of communalism and political extremism. We will fight terrorism root and branch. We will ensure that this great, liberal and plural nation of ours is not weakened by hatred and bigotry,” Dr Singh said.
