Nagarjuna’s Nag Kings defeated Venky’s Warriors for the T-20 Tollywood trophy as the Movie Artistes’ Association raised Rs 1.5 crore for themselves at LB Stadium on Sunday.
The association contributed Rs 18 lakh towards weavers development fund, Rs 5 lakh for the education of children of poor actors and Rs 8 lakh towards city police welfare fund.
After day-long matches between teams headed by Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh, the actors gave away the associations' contributions to the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah who was at the stadium to watch the matches.
Police had to be called in to control the huge crowds that turned up the witness the match. Police swung their lathis on several occasions and horse-mounted personnel were called in to bring the crowd outside the stadium to order.
