LeT terrorists may hit city, warns Centre

The Centre has warned the state government that terrorists may strike in the city. According to an intelligence alert put out by the Centre, Lashkar-e-Tayyaba terrorists trained in Pakistan have entered the city and could set off bombs in busy market areas.

Sources said the Intelligence Bureau issued the alert based on intercepts of communication from across the border with terrorists in India.

The city police has gone on high alert. Personnel from Octopus, the anti-terror commando force, 18 teams of the City Security Wing, units from the Intelligence Security Wing and Railway Protection Force are pressed into service to spot the terrorists.

Task Force sleuths and bomb disposal teams were also deployed, sources said. All the officials of city police were put on standby.
