Nagam backs TRS talk of violence over T-state

The Telugu Desam Telangana forum on Monday warned that if Telangana is not achieved through peaceful means violence cannot be ruled out. The forum also admitted that there was injustice to Telangana region in water sharing even during the TD rule.

The forum convenor, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, said this would be the last war for a separate Telangana. “Those who sacrificed their seats for Telangana should be re-elected in the bypolls. The PCC chief, Mr D. Srinivas should reconsider his decision to contest from Nizamabad,” he remarked.

Dr Reddy said that the present Telangana agitation was going on in a democratic and peaceful manner and if a separate state is not carved out there would be violence, they said.

“We have told this to the Srikrishna committee. In the 1969 Telangana agitations, several youth were killed by police bullets. But in the present agitation, youth are committing suicide. Subsequently, violence cannot be ruled out if T-state is not formed,” he said.

In another startling admission, Dr Janardhan Reddy admitted that Telangana suffered injustice even during the TD rule in allocation of river waters. “We will present a strong case before Srikrishna panel again on the need for separate Telangana,” he added.

The TD leaders denied that they had backed out on the resignation issue saying they would still stick to it. “There will be an impact only if everyone resigns. The TD MLAs are ready to quit even today if others join. The TRS resignation had led to only bypolls,” he said.
