Jamuna’s daughter files case against in-laws

Veteran actress Jamuna’s daughter on Thursday approached the women’s police station at Basheerbagh here and lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws alleging that they had subjected her to mental and physical torture.
Following the complaint, the police arrested the woman’s mother-in-law and father-in-law, while her husband is said to be absconding.
Shravanthi, a resident of Banjara Hills, married Rahul Reddy in 2006. In her complaint she alleged that ever since her marriage, the trio had been torturing her physically and mentally, apart from demanding additional dowry.
She alleged her mother-in-law, Vasantha Reddy, father-in-law, Madhusudhan Reddy, and husband Rahul Reddy used to frequently demand dowry.
The women’s police station inspector, Mr K.P. Anand, said they registered a case under Sections 498 (A) IPC (cruelty to wife by husband or relatives), 506 (criminal intimidation) IPC and sections 4 and 6 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
“Vasantha Reddy and Madhusudhan Reddy have been arrested, while Rahul is absconding,” Mr Anand added.
