The city police is contemplating the closure of the cheating and harassment case booked against Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, by stating that the complainant, Ms Ayesha Siddiqui, “is not cooperating with the police and has withdrawn her complaint.”
As there is delay and ambiguity over Ms Siddiqui’s filing a compromise petition in court, the CCS police is awaiting the police commissioner, Mr A.K. Khan’s permission to file a final report in the court, with a note that the complainant is not aiding the investigation.
The additional commissioner of police (crimes), Mr Narasimha Reddy, said “We have stopped investigation into the case after the complainant gave in writing that she was seeking the withdrawal of the complaint. We will file a final report in court. Shoaib has to apply to the court and get his passport back.”
CCS assistant commissioner, Mr Muralidhar, said, “We have collected evidence from Ms Siddiqui. She told us the marriage was consummated and they stayed together in several places in the city including a star hotel. She didn’t hand over to us the stained clothes she claimed to have with her.”
