With the demand from the agriculture sector coming down due to the completion of Rabi season, the APTransco and four Discoms are all set to relax the power cut duration from next week.
The Transco officials will announce a reduction of at least one hour in power cut from April 7 and two hours from April 10. Power cut in all cities and major towns will be lifted after April 15.
“By April 20, most of the power cut will be relaxed,” Mr Ajay Jain, the CMD of APTransco said.
The demand from the farm sector has seen a steep fall with the Rabi season wrapping up.
The gap between demand and supply, which had touched a record 33 million units a week ago, came down to 23 million units on Friday.
But, the demand from other sectors continue to worry the power companies. The daily power demand continues to hover around 230 mu and the state is drawing almost 48 million units of power from the Central Generating Stations to ensure supply.
Meanwhile, the industrial consumers have requested the APTransco and Discoms to give more relief to industries as they took on most of the power cut burden.
