Many residents, particularly a large number of youth from Faluknama, Chatrinaka and Shah-Ali-Banda, took advantage of the two-hour curfew relaxation on Thursday and moved out of the old city.
While some of them mo-ved to their relatives’ and friends’ houses in the new city, others migrated to surrounding districts of Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Medak.
Some have even gone to the extent of shifting their entire families to other states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat.
Many of them said that they were forced to move out of the old city since there was no clarity as to when curfew would be lifted permanently.
Some said that it was very difficult for them to procure essential commodities within two hours, that too after a gap of two days.
Mr Ikshiyaad, a resident of Chatrinaka, shifted his entire family of 17 members to Banaras. The entire family moved out of the old city in three autorickshaws to the Mahatma Gandhi bus stand in Gowliguda.
Mr B. Srinu, a worker in a bakery at Shah-Ali-Banda migrated to his native place Nizamabad.
“I am a daily wage labourer. I have not eaten anything since the last two days as there was no work due to the curfew. I worked for two hours today and earned Rs 150. I decided
to utilise this amount to move to my native place,” he said.
